Another twin-engined classic and an American legend. The Electra was Lockheeds first twin engine, all-metal design ( designed by Lloyd Stearman ... yes that Stearman !) which first fel the air under its wings in 1935. A highly modified Model 10 E was made famous by Amelia Earhart who tragically disappered during a round-the-world record attempt. The Electra is so evocative of the 30's and 40's and appeared in many movies, carrying Humphry Bogart to some distant Pacific island or later battling valiantly pressed into military service during WW2.

There were only 149 Electra E10's ever built. Now is your chance to get your hands on one!

Features

- Beautifully crafted exterior and interior models built from years of research and using factory drawings and plans.
- Fully detailed authentic cockpit with many unique animations and functions.

I like this plane. But the first version is all too noisy inside and out, and ridiculous expensive. The pilot view are fare off. The front windows are terrible. The wheels got no springs, and give no feedback when touch down, and much more. Wait for a serious update before buying.

I have always been a big fan of these classic old planes and was very excited when I heard it was being made for MSFS. But after the disappointment of Aeroplane Heavens Spitfire I feared the worst for this plane and sadly my fears were confirmed.

Like their Spitfire, the Electra feels rushed and unfinished. Overall model is fairly decent but texturing and finer detailing is very lacking. Also like the Spitfire the cockpit is not up to the basic standards of other MSFS planes available and there are controls and switches that are broken as with many of the systems and functions. The broken tail wheel is particularly annoying especially on take off and landings. The sounds are unbalanced and poor quality and compromise the immersion. I definitely don't feel like I am flying a plane with a pair of big radial engines either side of me.
After having many of their previous products for FSX and P3D and most of which impressed and I still flew up until MSFS came along. But their latest releases for MSFS don't even feel like their products but instead just slapped together port overs intended for a quick cash grab.
I cannot express my disappointment enough at their new Spitfire let alone the Electra.

After two days of flying this bird, it is a four star plane in search of its 4th star. To get that 5th star, it needs:

The 3rd person view ASI isn't calibrated correctly (I'm usually going faster than it indicates). The scale also stops before I hit the top cruising speed (maximum speed, while keeping things in the green, not the economical cruising speed).

The external ASI's scale is wrong. The plane's own ASI is in MPH, but the 3rd person's is in Knots and KPH. The knots is handy, but the KPH should be MPH.

The reflectivity of the passenger door' exterior is quite different than the panels on either side of it and that's distracting. Otherwise the exterior is quite nice.

Note this is my second review because I couldn't find a way to edit my previous one to reflect my additional experience with the plane, both are 4 star.

decent model sounds are way to loud pilots side window has a thin line running threw it from top to bottom co pilot not showing over all its a bit over priced more like a 20 dollar plane at its current state

- The sounds are overwhelmingly loud and low quality/compressed as well as being "legacy" where they should have put the effort into make them wwise.
- From a distance the plane looks good but up close the low quality textures from this being an FSX port become apparent.
- Inflight it is very pitchy and overly responsive to the point of being twitchy.
- Flying performance does not match IRL numbers.
- There are no additional click spots for QOL toys in the cockpit.
- There are odd bugs/omissions in the cockpit like the power quadrant balls disappearing randomly and the flap indicator on the side panel not working.

Without major patches in the near future this is destined to collect virtual dust in my hangar. For now, for the price, one can do much better

The plane on first sight is nicely made and textured and certainly has potential being a classic and famous for Amelia Earhart's last flight (although that was a different and highly modified version).

What I really like on this plane:

- The switch for cold&dark mode
- That the aircraft loads with Sperry Autopilot on default with the modern avionic equipment being entirely optional

But in the present state the plane has following downsides:

- The magnetic compass turns in the wrong direction and is also barely readable if the sun doesn't directly shine on it
- The textures for bare metal liveries seem too dark
- From inside the cockpit the engines sound a bit hollow and shallow as if the lower frequencies have been taken out, also is very loud compared to the overall average of other planes that makes it necessary to readjust your sound level settings
- Then still some things that will hopefully be fixed later on but aren't that game-breaking

The first issue with the compass was also present in their first FSX-release of the Electra. So either they reproduced a fixed problem or this version is just a polished port-over from FSX. Either way, considering the price of more than 30 Euros I can only give a 2-star rating. It would be a decent quality for a 10-15 Euros product. But for this price other vendors offer some kind of more or less deep system complexity which sadly is not the case with this plane.

If you want to just fly around and enjoy the pictures, this plane might be for you. When looking only a little bit deeper, in its current state it seems like a beta-version or a port-over from FSX. And I only did a handful of test flights and came about multiple issues.

I hope this gets fixed in time, the issues present should never have passed even a rudimentary testing.

I'd like to give this 4.5 stars because is really is better than a 4 star rating, but it may take a few updates to put the polish 5 stars require. Handles great, including in vicious Aleutian crosswinds. Love the choice of classic autopilot or a modern GPS/AP with the throw of a cockpit switch. Do wish it was a little quieter in the cockpit so I could clearly understand ATC.

I also like some of the advanced instrumentation, such as the advanced vibration sensor (turn it on, you'll love it). The interior is well rendered, including the passenger cabin, with its touch of whimsy. A dozen excellent liveries and a simple drag and drop installation (like most mods) round out this outstanding package.

I love it and highly recommend it.

I really wish I didn't have these points to make because I LOVE Electra and have been waiting for someone to do it. AH/JustFlight had an excellent Electra they gave to Lockheed Martin as default P3D aircraft, so this was IDEAL for me. Unfortunately, as this release stands right now, there are several points which need work:

1. Flaps indicator doesn't work
2. Tail wheel lock doesn't work (Developer says it's due to MSFS limitation, but there are plenty of 3rd party aircraft with a working lockable tail wheel)
3. Mixture levers don't do anything (fuel flow on left engine remains the same, MP remains the same etc)
4. DME indicator doesn't work (says INOP due to SU5 but again, all the other aircraft have working DME)
5. Autopilot (Garmin G3X version) doesn't lock onto the GPS course or heading and keeps "hunting" back and forth. Some other aircraft have experienced this in the past, but those issues have been resolved.
6. Sperry Gyropilot doesn't hold pitch and instead holds altitude (unrealistic)
7. Sperry Gyropilot's aileron control doesn't work.
8. Garmin G3X's speed tape is wrong and shows yellow and red zone well below that of the aircraft's specs. Its cruise speed is in red zone.
9. No WWise sounds and the current sounds are MUCH too loud

If these issues are handled, I will be happy to upgrade to a 5 star rating.

Guys, PLEASE don't rush aircraft. Get it ready and working and test/test/test! I have discovered all of these issues in less than 24 hours of owning it.

Not bad at all! Aeorplane Heaven has a nice, stable, well configured Electra. The textures are very nice, the flight model is stable and predictable, and it is fun to fly. The only downside for me is that the sounds are very loud...it's very hard to hear and understand ATC in this plane but hopefully that will be corrected in the future. That is the only reason I give it four stars instead of five. It is a good buy in my opinion.
