CF6-50

The CF6-50 series are high-bypass turbofan engines rated between 51,000 and 54,000 lb (227.41 to 240.79 kN, or '25 tons') of thrust. The CF6-50 was developed into the LM5000 industrial turboshaft engines. It was launched in 1969 to power the long range McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30, and was derived from the earlier CF6-6.

Not long after the -6 entered service, an increase in thrust and therefore core power was required. Unable to increase (HP) turbine rotor inlet temperature, General Electric chose the expensive path of reconfiguring the CF6 core to increase its basic size. They removed two stages from the rear of the HP compressor, leaving an empty air passage where the blades and vanes had once been. Two booster stages were added to the LP (low pressure) compressor, which increased the overall pressure ratio to 29.3. Although the 86.4 in (2.19 m) diameter fan was retained, the airflow was raised to 1,450 lb/s (660 kg/s), yielding a static thrust of 51,000 lbf (227 kN). The increase in core size and overall pressure ratio raised the core flow, decreasing the bypass ratio to 4.26.

In late 1969, the CF6-50 was selected to power the then new Airbus A300. Air France became the launch customer for the A300 by ordering six aircraft in 1971. In 1975, KLM became the first airline to order the Boeing 747 powered by the CF6-50. This led further developments to the CF6 family such as the CF6-80. The CF6-50 also powered the Boeing YC-14 USAF AMST transport prototype.

The basic CF6-50 engine was also offered with a 10% thrust derate for the 747SR, a short-range high-cycle version used by All Nippon Airways for domestic Japanese operations. This engine is termed the CF6-45.

Just got my PPL in a DA-40. Does not look, feel, or sound like the real aircraft. No left turning tendency on takeoff. Doesn’t float on the landings. Horrible G1000 functionality. Just as good as the Abacus A380.

A great addon! Nice model with some animations and a detailed interior, excellent hand flying, an brief yet complete documentation, an interactive load manager and the choice between a rather analogue cockpit and the possibility to retrofit it with a more advanced GPS device like the GTN 750 and the REX weather radar (both to be purchased separately-not included!)! -

I have owned this for a year or two now, it sits in the LITE area of complexity. Wh-
ich means since you are alone in the cockpit work load is reduced by half, which in a way makes it feel even more realist (more time to focus on the flying). It has a basic FMC which operates alone quite well, you can load saved flight plans into, also it will plan major routes automatically and also has a direct to function. Overall it is a slimmed down FMC which works well without the need for external plugins (FSUIPC). Th-
e 3D model is up there with the best, the cockpit is a custom made on, it is a little basic and similar to the Default A321. Flight model is pretty good, it is a little underpowered, and has a tendency to want to "nose down" during decent but over all its really good. (I have actually made a few tweaks to the config to get it to make real world performance and its a dream to fly now). There is NO FLY BY WIRE though, but for this price you cant complain, and performance and framerates are so high that you can forgive this. These days it's the only airliner I fly! And, set up correctly she will fly from Shannon to New York just like the real aircraft can. I found using the sound from the Aerosoft A319 suits this aircraft the best but the default sound is also very good. Overal-
l a lovely aircraft and great fun to fly.

Outstanding! Great addition and also great value per dollar. This first officer is well conceived and just as well executed. It isn't frequent to encounter a skilled programmer who also has a good sense of human interfaces and gui. After my experiences with other add-on copilots, I hesitated on this for several weeks. I shouldn't have. It is just what I wanted in this type of add-on. With this I'm learning a lot of the little things I haven't been doing. I can to a sense learn by example, beginning with letting the first officer do almost everything, then taking more onto myself. I've been an amateur flight simmer for 30 years and can complete a flight with any aircraft. But, I've always known I was taking advantage of the limitations of the sim and cutting many corners. This first officer is teaching me new things and adding a lot to my enjoyment of the flights with him. Thank you, Matthew King! Great Job!

Very good stick for a reasonable price. The only negative I can give is that it sometimes slides around my desk when I’m using it. The rubber feet could be better. But again, I cannot fault it’s operation. My landings have actually got better since using it.

is is a high fidelity simulation of the Dassault Falcon 50 of which I am really in love with. Flies great, handles great, truly a joy to fly. This is by far the best business jet for P3D. Really reccommend it!
