JUSTFLIGHT - DC-10 COLLECTION HD 10-40 FSX P3D
The JF/CLS DC-10 is a pretty good airliner and fun to fly. You do need to keep in mind that it is meant to be a "light" level airliner, meaning only the most basic aircraft systems are actually modeled. As it says in the manual that while gauges will move and indicator lights will light (everything is clickable), but it has no affect on the aircraft behavior so you can ignore most of the engineers panel if you want and just hop in and fly the plane. There's still a lot to learn up front though. I like study level aircraft too but I still enjoy light airliners when I don't feel like going through all the motions of flying a airliner with super realistic systems. You do need to learn how to use the autopilot of course, but it's not as difficult as you think if you read the manual to help you. Besides, this is the only DC-10 that is modeled for any simulator, so if this particular plane interests you, it's the only option available. The FMC is also a light version, you can ignore most of it as well if you want. The only things I use it for are double checking my flight plan is correct and pressing the "calc" button on the Takeoff/Approach page to calculate V-Speeds. It doesn't say this in the manual but since this is a light airliner, it's best to also use the default FSX/P3D GPS while flying it, mostly because the FMC doesn't tell you how far you are away from the next waypoint like a real one does, GPS makes navigation easier. The flight model feels fairly realistic enough for me that it is fun to hand fly. Another thing I like is that even though it's a light airplane, you can still learn about the engineers panel and how it works as you go along since everything is clickable and interactive even though it's not really modeled. I have it installed into P3Dv5 with only one very minor issue, the potable water system does work unless you do a cold and dark startup. If you like light airliners and you like classic airliners, than you should give this airplane a try. The current price is more than fair for what you get.
